The absolute cutting edge for application development at the moment is using Macromedia's Flash MX (the premier software for designing fantastic looking interfaces) with Microsoft's .NET framework (tremendously powerful server-side technology).
Combining these technologies has been greatly aided by the release of Macromedia's Flash Remoting MX, which is covered fully in this book. Designers and developers involved in the creation of this technology impart their knowledge to you in this book through extensive case studies.
Flash Remoting is not the only way to combine these technologies, however, so this book will fully cover Flash/.NET integration using ASP.NET.
This book is for readers who are looking to integrate their Flash movies with a .NET-enabled back-end. It assumes no prior knowledge of server-side technologies, but does require knowledge of Flash MX and ActionScript.

Developing C# Applications for iPhone and iPad using MonoTouch shows you how to use your existing C# skills to write apps for the iPhone and iPad. Fortunately, there's MonoTouch, Novell's .NET library that allows C# developers to write C# code that executes in iOS. Furthermore, MonoTouch allows you to address all the unique functions of the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. And the big plus: You needn't learn any Objective-C to master MonoTouch!
Former Microsoft engineer and published app-store developer Bryan Costanich shows you how to use the tools you already know to create native apps in iOS using C# and the .NET Base Class Libraries. The magic is in Novell's implementation of Apple's Cocoa libraries in MonoTouch. You'll master the same elegant and rich Cocoa environment, but without the need to learn a new programming language.
Developing C# Applications for iPhone and iPad using MonoTouch takes you from your first "Hello, World" example through the major APIs and features of iOS. The coverage is comprehensive and makes use of frequent examples, complete with sample code you can download and reuse to create your own powerful and playful apps.
- How to use your existing C# skills to develop applications on the iPhone and iPad
- Apple's Model View Controller (MVC) methodology
- Working with CocoaTouch’s UIKit to create iOS applications using native controls
- Device-specific features, like the camera, GPS, and Compass using CoreLocation, the accelerometer, and others
- Accessing shared resources such as the photos, contacts, and more
- How to persist and retrieve data using SQLite and .NET libraries
- Complex drawing and animation using CoreGraphics and CoreAnimation
- The use of Apple's Push Notification Service
- The latest game porting techniques using XNA Touch
- How to integrate off-the-shelf Objective-C libraries
Every .NET and C# developer who has have ever wanted to create an application or game for Apple's App Store.
Please note: to make use of the exercises in this book, readers must have a Mac computer running OS 10.6 or higher.

Transactions on Petri Nets and Other Models of Concurrency (ToPNoC) II These Transactions publish archival papers in the broad area of Petri nets and other models of concurrency, ranging from theoretical work to tool support and industrial applications. ToPNoC issues are published as LNCS volumes, and hence are widely distributed and indexed. This Journal has its own Editorial Board which selects papers based on a rigorous two-stage refereeing process. ToPNoC contains: - Revised versions of a selection of the best papers from workshops and tutorials at the annual Petri net conferences - Special sections/issues within particular subareas (similar to those published in the Advances in Petri Nets series) - Other papers invited for publication in ToPNoC - Papers submitted directly to ToPNoC by their authors The second volume of ToPNoC focuses on Concurrency in Process-Aware Information Systems. Although the topic of business process management using information technology has been addressed by consultants and software developers in depth, more fundamental approaches towards such Process-Aware Information Systems (PAISs) have been rather uncommon. It wasn't until the 1990s that researchers started to work on the foundations of PAISs. Clearly, concurrency theory is an essential ingredient in these foundations as business processes are highly concurrent involving all types of routing logic and resource allocation mechanisms. The 16 papers in this special issue of ToPNoC cover topics ranging from the formal (mostly Petri-net based) foundations of PAISs to more applied topics such as flexibility and process mining. Thus, this volume gives a good overview of the state of the art in PAIS research.
